Brodeur records league-high 12th shutout

TORONTO (AP) The NHL has suspended Philadelphia Flyers forward Daniel Briere two games for a late hit on Colorado Avalanche defenseman Scott Hannan.

The league announced the discipline Tuesday.

The incident occurred at 9:06 of the second period Monday night, right after Hannan had scored.

Leafs put G Toskala on injured reserve

TORONTO (AP) The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed goalie Vesa Toskala and forward John Mitchell on injured reserve and recalled goalie Joey MacDonald and forward Christian Hanson on Tuesday.

Mitchell suffered a knee injury in Monday night's 4-3 overtime loss to the New York Islanders. Toskala, who had to leave the game after tweaking a groin injury, has a 1-4-2 mark with a 3.91 GAA and .865 save percentage. Read More...

Roloson's 58 saves help Isles win in OT

TORONTO (AP) It's been 18 years since an NHL goalie made as many saves as Dwayne Roloson did Monday night.

The 40-year-old Roloson turned aside 58 shots to help the New York Islanders beat the Toronto Maple Leafs 4-3 on Josh Bailey's goal at 4:18 of overtime.
