Analysis: Gore fell just short of his franchise mark of 212 yards set in 2006 before leaving the game in the fourth quarter with a sprained right ankle that isn't considered serious. The 49ers, who have started 2-0 and are atop the NFC West, had 21 yards rushing in the first week. He became only the second player in NFL history to have two TD runs of 79 or more yards in the same game, joining Barry Sanders. Sanders had runs of 80 and 82 yards at Tampa Bay on Oct. 12, 1997. |

He was exceptional,'' Singletary said. ``If you got emotion, do it. What I was saying was I love the emotion, I love the enthusiasm. That's the game. That's passion. If I told him to stop doing that, he couldn't. ... That's just who Frank is. He's a competitor. Everything he does, he does it with his heart. That really is the thing that sets him apart.'' Analysis: Gore was in his element to say the least Tuesday in practices against the Bay Area rival Raiders. And he certainly had some energy to release considering he was held out of the team's first exhibition game, a 17-16 win over the Denver Broncos on Friday night, to keep him fresh. Singletary hasn't decided whether Gore will play Saturday against the Raiders. |
