Weis doesn't talk about future to media

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) Charlie Weis tried to set the example for his Notre Dame players Tuesday by refusing to talk about his future or any other distractions at his weekly news conference, focusing instead on Stanford.

The coach said he answered all the big-picture questions Sunday. That's when he said he couldn't argue if Notre Dame officials decided to fire him with a 6-5 record.

Overall, Weis has a 35-26 in five seasons at his alma mater. Athletic director Jack Swarbrick has said he will decide Weis' future after the game on Saturday.

Clausen suffers black eye after punch

SOUTH BEND, Ind. (AP) Notre Dame quarterback Jimmy Clausen is nursing a black eye after getting punched outside a South Bend bar early Sunday morning.

According to a university source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about the matter, Clausen was at C.J.'s Pub about 2 a.m. with his family and girlfriend in the wake of Notre Dame's double overtime loss to Connecticut. Read More...

Cincinnati's Kelly unfazed by job rumors

CINCINNATI (AP) Coach Brian Kelly is so accustomed to hearing rumors about him leaving Cincinnati that he pays little attention to what he calls the "silly season" of college football.

LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) Two players defended embattled Kansas coach Mark Mangino on Tuesday as an internal investigation into claims that he mistreated his team entered its second week.

(AP) -- Southern California, LSU and Miami are among eight teams that cannot earn an automatic BCS bid, but are still in contention for an at-large invite to a marquee bowl game.
